About

John has been teaching at the Folk House since 2002, and has been cartooning for over 25 years. Always an avid doodler, he began drawing caricatures of sales colleagues when he first started working in London after graduation.

When he took up sports kite flying, he created his first proper cartoon character, Roger Ripstop, whose strips have appeared in a number of kite publications. John’s teaching philosophy is based on the belief that anyone can learn to draw cartoons. He adopts a positive and dynamic approach to his workshops and courses, encouraging his students to use their imagination and latent creative ability in a spirit of enjoyment.
