In this workshop we will be looking at the factors that make up a still-life painting like composition, colour, drawing, tone values etc. Still-life is a great subject for beginners to get into oil painting.
Please bring the following: Recommended paint colours: Titanium white, Cadmium yellow, Yellow ochre, Cadmium red, Alizarin crimson, Burnt sienna, Burnt umber, Viridian, Cerulean blue, Ultramarine blue, Ivory black, A selection of brushes of various sizes, Low odour thinners -no turps - ,Linseed oil or other painting medium,2 pallette cups or two small jam jars,A pallette, tear off paper pallettes are handy,Oil painting sketch pad or canvas or canvas board 30cmx 40cm. Due to COVID19 please make sure you bring everything required on the materials list as equipment will not be able to be shared. The tutor may provide some materials for your course or workshop which will be distributed following our guidelines. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our ‘Contact us’ page. We are not open on bank holiday Monday’s and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

If a course has already started please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
