Sew a Pair of Dungarees
Start date: 27 July 19
Course length: 1 day course
Time: 10:00 to 16:00
In this relaxed workshop, using the fabric of your choice we will cut out and construct a pair of dungarees. We will sew false-felled seam, buttonholes, patch pockets and cuffed hems. You will have the opportunity to take a copy of the pattern and with your newly acquired knowledge you can make many more pairs of dungarees! Some previous sewing machine experience is ideal, but you don't need to have made anything from a pattern before. The pattern comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. We won't be able to draft new patterns to fit bigger or smaller sizes but I will talk about pattern alterations.
This is a 1.5 day workshop as follows:
Saturday 27th July 10.00 - 4.00 pm and Sunday 28th July 10.00 - 1.00 pm
2.5 metres of fabric and matching thread, contrasting fabric and threads for pockets (optional), dressmaking scissors, pins, tailors chalk/pencil, seam ripper (unpicker), tape measure, pattern paper and pencil if you want to copy the pattern. Please choose a fabric with some drape and weight. Linen or a cotton drill would work well, nothing shiny or stretchy please for your first pair! Any questions regarding fabric choice, please feel free to contact me via the Folk House office.
