Date: 24 Jun 18
Day: Sunday
Room: 8

Bristol Folk House
£12.50 / Concession £10.50

Description:

The Folk House Cafe & Bar are excited to be collaborating with some fabulous Bristol musicians to raise

much-needed funds for local charity Aid Box Community - Hope and Help to Refugees, who provide support, supplies and sanctuary to refugees and asylum seekers. Please visit their website for more info on the amazing work they do.

The desire to create this event came from the feeling of impotence we all feel here in the UK as we watch the endless bloodshed and wars around the world that create these refugees, in particular right now Syria.

We will have Syrian themed food available - details to follow.

The evening will include live music from:

Servo and Family

Servo has had a lifetime of drumming experience playing since he was 5 years old in the Republic of Congo. He is a multi-instrumentalist, a composer, a performer and a natural voice singing leader. Servo’s has a huge smile and a natural ability to engage with people through his performing and joy of music.

Servo has been leading creative artist on a project to raise the involvement of a group of disaffected teenage pupils in school life.

Megs Emrys Band

Megs Emrys Band brings powerful vocals, beautiful melodies and rich poetry steeped in a bluesy rock backdrop. Hints of their Celtic roots and Latin rhythms add magic to the air and fuel the imagination luring you into dance or dream.

Last year marked the release of their debut EP “Solar Motorbike”: soulful with a touch of Peruvian magic. ‘Solar Motorbike’ takes the listener on a magical and emotive journey.

Meg's songwriting prowess shines on this release, beautifully blending voice and guitar, to conjure vivid sonic pictures of the Andes of Peru, dark woods, Welsh coastlands and fantasy worlds.

Circe's Diner

Dedicated to self-penned, honest, rootsy tunes, the music from the Diner touches base with Country, Americana, Folk and Pop traditions yet the presentation and lyrical content draws inspiration from everyday life through wondrous tales of love, loss, friendship and tigers!

Circe’s Diner’s tracks have been taken to live radio performances, airplay with BBC Introducing, live video favourites with Balcony TV and Sofar Sounds, film sync (High Tide. 2015) and many performances across the UK and Europe including Glastonbury Festival, Ronnie Scott’s and performing to the Great British Bakeoff’s family in the final.

With their sound constantly developing whilst maintaining a humanity often lost in contemporary music, their songs (and their friendship) have touched the hearts of many.
