About

Katies work is constructed from her own memories and experiences, woven with a range of visuals from films, museums, books and places. She carefully considers the spaces between objects and composes prints and sculptures that are rich in surface, pattern and tone. She is driven by a fascination with the gentle ordinariness of place and how objects charactarise, narrate and describe a life.

Drawing is at the heart of Katie’s practice; her observations are immediate and are not held by linear lines and perspectives. This immediacy sets a visual language that she takes into the print room, where she then slowly considers and builds scenes that hold small moments of narrative.

Katie studied for her BA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths before accepting an 18-month scholarship at the Royal Drawing School, London. In 2023, she completed her Masters in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking at the University of West England, Bristol.

Katie’s methodologies centre around a firm belief that everyone is able to access a connection with drawing, and that in order to do so, we sometimes need to unlearn habits and rules we are often taught from a young age. Katie has a contemporary approach to drawing and composition in her own practice and believes strongly in thinking through making.
