Courses description

Enjoy creating collages based on art history movements & individual artists as a starting point, with several tasks designed to help encourage creative inspiration, explore potential bottled up emotions or just simply have time to create and enjoy mark making. Unlike painting, drawing and photography, collage does not come with generations of elitism to scare off those who have not studied art or haven't got the access to materials that mean exploring a creative side is just not viable. You can use anything you have to hand such as advertisements, magazines, old phone bills, maps, and leaflets. The accessibility of collage means it is truly an art form of the people. In this workshop we'll be looking at artists that use collage in their work and discussing what impact the choice of medium has and the subject matter they are exploring. After this you will be invited to take part in several activities, making our own collages based around the theme of identity.
