The Darkroom

The Bristol Folk House has a purpose-built wet-based photography facility, which is available to darkroom members. The darkroom also offers a programme of exciting traditional photography courses and workshops throughout the year (Due to Covid-19 these are currently not running, please check back with us in the new year).


MEMBERSHIP

In order to use our darkroom you must have had an induction, which then automatically puts you on to our members list. To continue using our space you will need to renew your membership yearly.

Darkroom Facilities

  • - 7 black and white enlargers 35mm/ medium/ large format.
  • - Black and white film development facilities.
  • - Print finishing facilities.
  • - Technical support and all chemicals to enable you to process and print.
  • NOTE: You will need to bring your own photographic paper.
  • We do have a small supply of photographic paper which can be purchased at the time of your booking, we also have a supply of negative sleeves for 35mm & 120mm.
  • For a full equipment list please contact the Darkroom Manager.

Fees

  • Induction fees
  • - £5 per person
  • Session Fees
  • - £6 an hour for Members
  • NOTE: We advise booking sessions in advance to ensure access to the equipment.

    All darkroom users share the workspace and must use the enlarger they have booked.
