Oil painting improvers a course for painters who have some experience with oil painting or have already completed a beginners course. During this course we will extend experience of oil painting including tonal values, colour mixing, painting procedures and technical elements such as when to use oil mediums. Students can choose their own subjects, these can include still-life, landscape and portrait painting. Students pick their own subjects that interest them, either bring with them or pick from the teachers selection of various subjects. The tutor will offer demonstrations and one- 2 - one support with your oil painting practice.
Please bring the following:
Recommended paint colours:
A selection of brushes of various sizes
Low odour thinnersno turps
Linseed oil or other painting medium
2 pallette cups or two small jam jars
A pallette, tear off paper pallettes are handy
Oil painting sketch pad or canvas or canvas board 30 x 40 cm.
Please note: All 10, 8 and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our ‘Contact us’ page. We are not open on bank holiday Monday’s and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

If a course has already started please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
