Courses description

This famous statement comes from Plato's Apology, a recounting of Socrates's speech at his trial. In this interactive workshop we will explore what the Ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, might have meant by these words.

We will discuss why he thinks Philosophy is so important to the way we lead our lives. What does he mean by the unexamined life? Is this relevant to our lives today in which misinformation and social media seem increasingly prevalent? Are there other things that are more important than Philosophy? What can we learn from Socrates about knowledge, truth and wisdom? What did he mean by self -examination?

There will be lots of opportunities for discussion, debate and dialogue!
