This is an online course. Please check material lists section below for extra details. This course will cover: how to write a beginning to grab your reader, the elements and how-to of a plot, finding your unique voice, research and the importance of time and space, how to develop characters your reader will care about, gaining a writing practice, and insight into the publishing process and more. Led by published novelist and experienced creative writing tutor who also teaches on an MA course for CW. You will leave with the tools to get your novel written.
This class will be taught online via Zoom. You will need a laptop, tablet or phone with zoom downloaded and a zoom account set up ahead of attending. You will need to make sure you have an internet connection. You will receive an email directly from the tutor with a link to attend the meeting ahead of your class. Please ensure you book with your current email address.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our ‘Contact us’ page. We are not open on bank holiday Monday’s and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

If a course has already started please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
