Native Spirit Film Screenings

The Bristol Folk House to host film screenings for the Native Spirit Film Festival.

The Bristol Folk House is very pleased to announce that we will be offering screenings of a selection of films from the Native Spirit Festival. 

The Native Spirit Festival is the UK's first and only annual Independent festival to promote Indigenous Filmmakers, Media and Artists, with increasing focus on Narrative and Visual Sovereignty, in all film styles — Experimental, SciFi, Comedy, Horror, Animation, Spoken Word, Music, Dance, features and documentaries.

The festival is part of Native Spirit Foundation, founded in 2005 by Mapuche leader Freddy Trequil to promote knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures.

Freddy states "One objective of making video, radio and television is for the other culture to know us. It is necessary to create a bridge to share our culture in an educational form, without losing our identity."  The festival intends to give voice to the cultures of Indigenous people, to recount history from their perspective and to share their diverse cultures. This is a rare chance to immerse yourself in global Indigenous cinema. We hope you will join us - we want as many people as possible to watch these films. The Café will be open from 6.30 pm serving delicious meal size nachos as well as snacks, cakes and drinks.

The space will adhere to all social distancing and safety protocols.

Entry is by donation with proceeds going to the Festival – suggested donations £5 - £8.
