Courses description

Come and learn how to carve medieval designs in oak with a skilled and experienced professional woodcarver and teacher. Perhaps a dragon or a green man, green woman or even a green animal!

Our tutor Alistair will guide you through the process of carving in wood using traditional gouges and chisels. This course is suitable for any skill level, from absolute beginners to those with some experience.

All tools and a block of oak measuring 200 x 170 x 20mm (roughly 7.75 x 6.75 in x 0.75 inches) will be supplied, or feel free to bring your own special piece of timber if you prefer.

Example designs will be available to use or come with your own and Alistair can advise you on adapting them for carving.

You can see more of Alistair's work at carvings-with-stories.co.uk

The Folk House & cafe will be closed during this weekend workshop, you will need to go off site for the 1 hour lunch break each day.

You will meet at the back entrance of the Folk House for this workshop. The workshop will be held in the Pottery Studio.
