At the Folk House, our mission is to bring people together and improve lives through creativity, learning, and connection. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what’s ahead; growing our reach, deepening our roots in the community, and opening our doors wider than ever before.
Community is at the heart of everything we do. By collaborating with charities, artists, and local groups, we’re able to share skills, resources, and ideas, creating a richer cultural scene in Bristol for all to enjoy.
But we cannot do this alone. We rely on charitable donations to support us with our work. By supporting the Bristol Folk House today, you will join a special community ensuring all in our city can access arts and culture for generations to come.
If you would like to donate, you can use the button below.
You might also consider leaving us a gift in your Will. If you’d like to discuss a donation, please email us at fundraising@bristolfolkhouse.co.uk
We believe arts and culture should be open to all, and that the Folk House can be a vibrant, creative home for everyone. Your support will help us open the doors of creativity to everyone by funding programmes that bring the arts to people who face barriers to taking part.
We offer free workshops and courses for those experiencing financial or other difficulties, such as our Wellbeing Pottery sessions for people experiencing mental health challenges, and our subsidised and free workshop places for refugees and asylum seekers as part of the Open Hands Project (If you would like to find out more about this project, or how you can access this support yourself, see the information at the bottom of this page).
We provide our spaces free of charge to local community organisations and groups, helping them connect, create, and share their work.
We’re also undertaking an exciting infrastructure project to make our beautiful historic building step-free and accessible to everyone. This transformation will ensure that all visitors, regardless of mobility, can take part in our events, courses, and community life.
If you’re interested in supporting this important project, we’d love to hear from you.
Please email fundraising@bristolfolkhouse.co.uk to find out how you can help us make this vision a reality.
In 2025, we launched Open Hands, a new outreach programme designed to welcome displaced people into our community through partnerships with local charities. The initiative focuses on providing access to arts and creative learning opportunities that support displaced individuals with their wellbeing, bolster confidence and connection, and become part of the community.
