This course aims to help you discover your authentic voice. Whether you are feeling terrified, rusty, silenced, or simply voice-shy, this will be a light-hearted and supportive space for exploration. We will play with voice, movement, breath, and sound, using the Indian Rag (scale) as a foundation for developing vocal confidence and expression.
Each session will begin with a fun ice-breaker to help us connect, followed by body and voice warm-ups focusing on different aspects of sound, rhythm, or vocal technique. You will also have the option to receive individual coaching in front of the group - a powerful opportunity to learn from one another in a safe and supportive environment.
We will continue building our vocal skills throughout the course using the Indian Rag system and note names.
The group is limited to 10 participants to ensure a warm, non-judgmental atmosphere where mutual trust and support can grow. Together, we will create space for each voice to feel heard, supported, and free to soar. This course is suitable for beginners.
Testimonial:
Janne has a very gentle and natural ability in assisting and guiding anyone to uncover their true expression. Working with her has allowed me to explore my natural voice/sound and to discover the power within my voice. She facilitates a transformational journey through the healing power of singing and her enthusiasm to hear someone finding their own voice is demonstrated in the work she does. I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to benefit from Janne's help.
Wear loose comfortable clothes. Please bring your own water.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
