Learn the basics of freeform crochet in this day workshop. Freeform crochet is a technique that prioritises creative expression and intuition over following a pattern. It would be a way to draw with yarn. Freeform crochet is also a fabulous way to use your leftover yarn. Although there are no rules, there are some useful techniques that will allow the learner to achieve the desired results. You will learn different ways to create organic shapes as well as joining techniques.
During the workshop the learner will be introduced to the so called 'scrumbles' which are a small, irregular pieces of crochet that are joined to create a larger, textured fabric.
This workshop is not for total beginners. To follow the session comfortably you will need to know the basics of crochet (double crochet stitch, half treble stitch, treble stitch as well as working in the round and magic ring).
The class is taught in right handed technique but we welcome left handed students, just email the tutor at info@tenguerengue.com to let them know. We are always happy to make any adjustments that you might need. Please let us know in advance if there is something we can do.
All the materials are included in the price which includes a crochet hook, yarn in different colours, a yarn needle and step by step printed instructions to take home.
All materials, tools and instructions are included in the fee.
Please get in touch if you have any additional needs that would be helpful for us to know about, and we will try to arrange adjustments for you to better access the workshop. If you need to bring a carer with you, please let us know in advance so we can ensure there is enough space. Email us on admin@bristolfolkhouse.co.uk or call us on 01179262987.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
