Learn how to cook easy vegan meals for yourself, family, and friends. Participants will learn how to make dishes that are good for weeknight dinners, as well as how to find good vegan recipes, veganise non-vegan recipes, and create their own dishes.
We will make a different recipe together each week, moving through different themes and covering the essentials in vegan cooking. The lessons combine demos and teaching with practical work, giving participants skills, tips and direct cooking experience in a space where they can ask questions as they go.
This is an online course, so participants can enjoy the results of each lesson in their own home. Participants will also be given optional recipes to try making outside the class if they want to expand their skills.
Participants will need a basic level of cooking to participate.
This class will be taught online. You will need to make sure your Internet connection is sufficient. Students simply need to click on the link sent by the tutor ahead of your session. You will also need a notebook and pen.
You will need basic kitchen utensils, including a baking tray, frying pan, saucepan, sieve, kettle, chopping board and chopping knife (and cutlery to eat with!) A kitchen blender (even if small) and a wok would be useful but not essential.
Each student will need to buy weekly recipe ingredients, please see the ingredient list for each week here.
There are core ingredients for weekly recipes, plus optional ingredients for homework.
Core ingredients for student to make each weeks recipe: £60 (£10 per week)
Optional ingredients for students (the homework meal): £40 (£6.66 per week)
Please note, the tutor has estimated the prices above assuming that the student will not have any of the ingredients, to begin with (including store-cupboard ingredients like oil, salt and pepper). If students have these already then, the ingredients costs will be less.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
