Tutor: Kerry Day
This workshop is ideally for students who love colour, and want to explore how a simple printing technique can be used to create multiple effects and depth to your designs. You don't need any previous printing experience, and also for those who want to take their printing further who may have tried other techniques in the past. Reduction lino printing, despite the name, is actually full of possibilities, and is a great way for people interested in Lino printing to create exciting images using only one lino block, cutting away for each layer until your image is complete.. The tutor will be there to lead you through the technique that she herself specializes in and will help you to develop your ideas.Taking inspiration from plants, forms, your own idea and looking at ways to express this in printed format.
Please bring an apron or wear suitable clothing.
Bring your ideas along, photos or drawings for inspiration.
Each student will be provided with 1 A5 Lino block and scrap pieces, additional Lino can be bought from the tutor. We will be using Calico Safe Wash Relief Printing inks, a oil based ink which can be cleaned vegetable oil and warm soapy water. No harsh chemicals are used.
Please note: All 10, 8 and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our ‘Contact us’ page. We are not open on bank holiday Monday’s and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.
Please see full terms and conditions for more information.
If a course has already started please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
