Learn to play the harmonica! It is a great little musical instrument, widely heard in Country, Folk, Blues and Rock music. You will be in a user-friendly class with an experienced teacher (Aidan Sheehan PGCE. MU, performer and "Harmonica UK" outreach programme officer who has taught at Bristol Folk House since 2004 plus at many music festivals and music venues. He also runs the Traditional Irish Music sessions at Bristol Folk House). Bring along your own ten-hole, diatonic harmonica in the key of C and away we go. Harmonica TAB is provided.
This one-day workshop is suitable for improvers and returners.
Harmonica playing is great fun yet it requires concentration, courtesy, coordination, good listening, taking turns, following instructions, breath control and they make a noise. If anyone has a specific learning need, they are welcome and may bring along their own helper to assist them, for the good of all in the class.
Student testimonials:
Aidan, thank you so much for a brilliant course! It will be the highlight of my year for sure.
I must shake your hand Aidan. That was marvellous. You are the most non-pedantic music teacher I have ever had. You make it fun. I have learned so much.
You kept everyone smiling. Humour is a great way to learn. It takes the pressure away. Thanks.
Learners are required to bring along their own fully working, ten-hole, diatonic harmonica in the key of C to this workshop. TAB sheets will be handed out to all learners.
Please get in touch if you have any additional needs that would be helpful for us to know about, and we will try to arrange adjustments for you to better access the workshop. If you need to bring a carer with you, please let us know in advance so we can ensure there is enough space. Email us on admin@bristolfolkhouse.co.uk or call us on 01179262987.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
