Spend a day drawing or painting the faces of 2 live models: a man and a woman, 2.5 hours each. You also have the option of spending the whole 5 hours on one portrait, by using photographs of the morning sitter in the afternoon. You may use any medium you are familiar with, including pastels, coloured-pencils, or water-colour. You will get plenty of guidance, including for beginner-portraitists: basic face-drawing principles and an introductory demonstration.
Testimonial:
Great tuition from an experienced teacher. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly fellow students. Good model. Just lovely to have the opportunity to draw and paint from a live model along with other people.
If you are new to portraiture, please bring the following to the workshop:
HB or B Pencil and/or some willow charcoal (and fixative or hairspray)

A3 or A2 paper masking tape or bull-dog clips
Otherwise bring whatever materials you are used to using. Though you might like to try a portrait using coloured pencils or (chalky) pastels. Coloured paper is commonly used with pastels.

Please get in touch if you have any additional needs that would be helpful for us to know about, and we will try to arrange adjustments for you to better access the workshop. Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
