Paint a totebag with your own design with Batik technique - wax resist pattern drawing on fabric.
Express your personality by colouring the patterns using the fabric dyes. Your Batik totebag will be fixed to make sure it is washable and water proof. You'll be guided through all these processes by a Malaysian folk art artist, Zariq who runs Batik workshop all around Gloucestershire.
This in-person workshop is beginner friendly and all the materials and tools are provided. You only have to come with confidence and the spirit of learning.
The provided materials: Cotton fabric, Tjanting tool, wax, brushes, fabric dye, fixer solution, kitchen towels, latex gloves, wooden frames, thumb nails, papers, pencils, and induction hobs. The introduction notes will be sent to the participant through their email before the class commences. (PDF format) - They can print it out or make it as an e-reference.
Please note: All 10, and 12 week courses have a half term break in the middle. For term dates please visit our Contact us page. We are not open on bank holiday Mondays and any class that falls on these days will be made up at the end of term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
