Photography and its styles can be as unique as the fingerprints we are born with. The desire for well-being and good mental health is a universal desire. Seven years ago Adrian was diagnosed with a chronic lack of self worth and later PTSD. It was photography and its use in different ways and in different facets of his life that got him through and indeed changed his life forever. From Mindful Photography, journaling, embracing the Japanese ideas of Kintsugi and even photographing the streets, Adrian found creative ways to overcome so much. During these 5 short workshops, he will introduce you to various photographic approaches, giving you a chance to practice each and he will share tools to help you in everyday life.
This is a taster of different styles. If any suit you then further day courses may be available. Suitable for all experiences and none, cameras to mobile phone cameras. This is not about the quality of the photograph, but the quality of time we give ourselves.
The workshops will include:
1. Introducing creativity as a way to well being using the 5 Ways to Well-Being advocated by the NHS.
2. Introduction to Mindful Photography.
3. Finding beauty in the ordinary and broken.
4. Using Photography as a means to journal our feelings.
5. Using projects or elements of visual design to give focus and allow images to come to us.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
