Elsie Rhymes' Autmn Poetry Party Thursday 10th September at The Bristol Folk House Tickets on Headfirst, link in bio

Elsie Rhymes' Poetry Party is a seasonal poetry event hosted by me, Elsie Rhymes. For the autumn edition we have the supremely talented guests A.C Bevan and John Rea. Come and enjoy some conkerish Autmn poetry and hear some excellent poems from John and Andrew's books.

A. C. Bevan's most recent collection, "Poundlandia, was published by Mica Press in October 2024. His poems have appeared in numerous literary magazines & anthologies in the UK, Europe & the US; on Radio 4's Poetry Please Shipping Forecast centenary special; the Science Museum website on National Poetry Day; as a poster on a Channel Island bus: & as part of a virtual creative writing module from Leicester Universitv. He has read at the Ledbury Poetry Festival, Tenby Arts Centre, & L,ondon Review Bookshop.

John Rea is an Irish poet and artist from County Antrim who has been based in Bristol since 2001. He began writing poetry when he discovered the city's phenomenal spoken word community a few years ago and he has been performing regularly at open mic events ever since. Using vernacular language, humour and narrative rhythms, John has addressed a broad range of themes in his work, including love, loss, addiction, the impact of technology, and his experience of the Troubles. When he's not writing, he is usually cycling, listening to music or somewhere in nature, often all three together. He is inordinately fond of his cat, Felix.

Elsie Rhymes is here to entertain you, to touch you and to tease you with tales of love, food, nature and everyday life. Regularly featured on the radio on BBC Upload, and selected as a favourite poet of 2025, open mic frequenter and stand up poet.

Relaxed and informal, uplifting and cheerful with a few laughs thrown in to amuse. Expect different themes and styles of poetry to inspire and tickle your poetry tastebuds. A good excuse to mingle with the poets and perhaps make new friends. Come and share a conker or a drink with us!
