Coming from the Nashville tradition of songwriters who showcase their work in the round, three artists, all with very different styles, have been brought together by Nashville native Russell Walker for the fourth ‘In the Round’ session at the Folk House Café.

At times actually performed in a circle, but most often in a row, taking turns to sing and listen, the artists then come together for one or two songs at the end, as seen and heard in the famous Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee.

THE ARTISTS

Al O’Kane - “Fresh from the Somerset Delta”
"Folding Jimi Hendrix into the sound of Celtic resistance rock‘n’roll. Part Waterboys, part Velvet Underground, Al's music is a cry for action nestled into a fiery acoustic blend" - Davey Ray Moor (CousteauX)

Having played Glastonbury Festival and numerous gigs alongside the likes of Eddie Martin, Martha Tilston, Kevin Ayers, Cara Dillon, Ben Ottewell, Nick Harper and Seth Lakeman - he is "set for BIG things - beautiful and catchy songs" (BBC Somerset)

His debut self-titled album was released online this summer and was mixed and co-produced by Steve Evans (Robert Plant, Goldfrapp). It features a fantastic group of acoustic musicians and is now available to download and stream from all major music providers.

Julian Dawson
Julian Dawson has been writing songs, making albums (23 so far) and touring solo and with his bands for many years. He has written and recorded with an incredible range of musicians, including soul legend Dan Penn, country pioneer Charlie Louvin, Americana queen Lucinda Williams and guitar hero Richard Thompson. He has just released a second three CD Box Set, ‘Life & Soul’ Vol. II, a ‘Best Of’ compilation of his past recordings. Brilliant songs, beautifully sung...

Kate Stapley
Kate Stapley writes and sings poignant yet playful stories of family, mental health and womanhood. Her debut EP Centella, released in February, has received high praise from BBC 6 Music – “a gorgeous EP” – and Bristol Live Magazine – “far too mature for a debut.” Kate Stapley has supported acts such as Michael Chapman, Michael Nau, Flyte and Lucy Dacus
