Gavin Thorpe was born in Stroud, grew up in W-U-E and then moved to Bristol to pursue his dream of becoming a professional singer/songwriter. After 3 years of playing the circuit around Bristol Gavin was spotted in July 2001 by a talent scout in Bristol and  In October 2001 he signed a seven album deal with Atlantic Records and a publishing deal with BMG publishing.
He then spent the next year in and out of the studio with different producers. He worked with John Leckie at the famous Rockfield studios in Wales and Real World studios in Bath.
He did his debut album with David Kahne in Henson Studios in Los Angeles. And then it was mixed with michael brauer at Quad studios in NY.
Unfortunately his debut album never saw the light of day due to in-house corporate politics. After a legal battle he finally left the label and started again.
This time he decided he had enough of major labels so he signed for an indie label called IRL.
Gavin self produced the album and was funded with the help from BMG publishing.
The album did not get the radio push it needed and while promoting the album tragedy struck and Gavin's father passed away. It seems that lady luck was not on his side.

Gavin has also had a song in a major motion picture and in various TV programs in europe and america.
He has written songs with Guy Chambers and Phil Thornally.

Gavin has since recorded 3 albums on his own label as well as writing with other artists on their projects.

The two biggest highlights of his music career was playing a live radio broadcast in studio 2 at Abbey Road and his dad was there to watch. They are both huge Beatles fans so it was a dream come true for both of them. And his other highlight was having a coffee and chat with Ahmet Ertegun. He is the man who founded Atlantic Records and signed Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. Gavin then played a couple of his own songs to him and he told Gavin “He had soul”. Afterwards Gavin signed his record deal and we went for a the biggest steak in New York.

As far as he is concerned he has “MADE IT”.
