A queer, nu-folk, singer-songwriter with a voice like complex coffee, Gráinne Hunt is a standout among Ireland’s most compelling vocalists and songwriters - blending raw emotion with commanding power and a voice that will take your breath away.

"The Irish Joni." Michael Londra

Her two original records and new live EP, draw from deeply personal experiences, weaving stories of pain, longing and joy, earning her comparisons to Tracy Chapman and Natalie Merchant. Her duo show with Jules Stewart on drums and vocals have drawn comparisons to The Indigo Girls and Brandi Carlile.

"…an astounding voice that will melt your heart. No crowd can resist." Declan O’Rourke

Her reputation as a powerhouse performer has landed her on stages alongside Glen Hansard and U2, with opening slots for Gladys Knight and Mary Black. After showcasing at Folk Alliance International in 2024, she secured an 0-1 Visa to cement her presence stateside. She kicked off 2025 showcasing at Celtic Connections she’s toured the US and Australia this year. Just back from her 2nd US tour this year, she launched her new show ‘Queer Arrivals’ at Liverpool Irish Festival in Oct 2025. She will kick off 2026 showcasing at FAI in New Orleans before a tour of Australia, including Port Fairy Folk Festival and a return to the US.

Musically, this is similar to some of the best contemporary folk music out there. Solid lyrical stories with intricate vocals and harmonies, it’s just top-notch musicianship. We <3 Music.

Beyond her solo work, Gráinne thrives in collaboration working with award winning guitarist Brendan Walsh on Songs from Ireland and Hibsen, a literary folk project who wrote an album based on James Joyce's "Dubliners”.

"The hardest working woman in Irish music." Glen Hansard
