THIS IS NOT A BOOKCLUB because you don't have to read anything first.

Sit back, let us read to you.

You are invited to gather and immerse yourselves in reflections on Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues.

Blending powerful readings from The Vagina Monologue with contextual observations and personal reflections, we unravel the inspiration beyond the infamous play and why it is still relevant today.

First produced by the artist, ‘V’ (nee Eve Ensler), in 1996 New York, The Vagina Monologues play marked a landmark moment in women's empowerment. Almost 30 years later the themes it raised still resonate. The play spawned the radical V-Day movement whose calls to end sexual violence against women and girls later evolved into the the global, ‘One Billion Rising’ campaign.

TAKE PART
a) Join the performance as a reader?

b) Submit a piece that reflects the theme?

Raise your voice by offering to read a piece chosen by us, or submit a short piece that reflects the theme: empowered woman and girls. We invite poetry or prose with a maximum duration of 3 minutes read aloud. Those selected will be added to the running order. You can then read it yourself, or offer it up to volunteers.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Friday 24 January 2026
