SHIP SHAPE EXHIBITION EVENTS – events with a nautical flavour
“What shall we do with the drunken sailor?”
Come and find out at our evening of rousing sea shanties at the Bristol Folk House led by Matt and Kirsty from Mutiny Shanties!
There will be opportunities to join in or just sit back and enjoy the show.
Lyrics will be available for anyone unable to resist the lure of a good song with a strong beat designed to help with the heave-ho of strong physical labour.
Entry to all our exhibitions remains free: events such as this help us raise much-needed funds to keep Ken’s vision alive and to assure the future of his delightful collection.
ABOUT THE STRADLING COLLECTION
The Stradling Collection is a remarkable collection of C20th and C21st design and applied arts. It contains almost 2000 pieces of ceramics, glass, furniture and decorative objects.
The gallery features changing displays from the Collection, or artworks created through our learning programme; sometimes our exhibitions feature both.
There is no charge but donations are very welcome.
To see the full collection, we offer curator-led tours which are chargeable and need to be booked in advance as space is limited and tours book up quickly.
Entry to all our exhibitions remains free: events such as this help us raise much-needed funds to keep Ken’s vision alive and to assure the future of his delightful collection.
CURRENT EXHIBITION
Ship Shape, The Stradling Gallery, 48 Park Row, Bristol BS1 5LH
Saturday 4 February – Saturday 18 March
Ships, boats and life on the water: this exhibition is our celebration of all things nautical through our Collection and lent by friends.
Bristol has a rich marine history and even now hundreds of ships and boats are docked in the Floating Harbour. Famous ships of Bristol include John Cabot’s Matthew in which he sailed to Newfoundland in 1497, and of course the SS Great Britain.
The Stradling Gallery will be open, ship shape and Bristol fashion, on Wednesdays 13:30-16:00 and on Saturdays 11:00-16:00.
Tickets are available online, over the phone or in person.
