The Poor Box Brothers are Marc Clements and Ben W King. Having played with innumerable bands on the road for over 40 years (including session work with Ginger Baker, Andy Rourke of The Smiths, and Van Morrison) this year Marc decided to get back to basics with harmonica player, Ben, and play the music that inspired him as a teenager. Ben has been playing guitar for over a decade, having grown up listening to all kind of blues. He picked up the harmonica in recent years and hasn’t put it down since.

Acoustic Pre-WW2 Blues
Stripped down to its basic constituents, a rural sound, this music sprung up in and around the Delta region of the US Deep South. Marc’s finger-picking style is known as ‘Piedmont’. Syncopated and dynamic, it has a kind of rag-time feel, with its origins in south-east Virginia and Atlanta. Ben’s sax-like harp playing reflects the music’s Delta origins. There’ll be some Chicago blues in the mix as well - the brothers aren’t hung up on labels!

“You were awesome.” The Packhorse Inn, Bath

“The guitar playing sounds like two guitarists.” Facebook post

FYI:

We have noticed an increasing number of scams / fake tickets for our events recently (especially purchased from social media). We do our best to monitor our social media pages and delete posts from scam ticket sellers, but some still manage to slip the net as we are a small team and do not have the capacity to constantly monitor all of our event pages on social media.

We never accept tickets purchased from unofficial ticket agents or social media platforms.

If an event is sold out – we can refund ticket holders wanting to return tickets provided we have a guaranteed buyer on the waiting list and it is before Friday 12pm on the weekend of the event. Therefore there is never a need to buy from anywhere except for official ticket selling sites (our website, Headfirst, Seetickets. Ticketsellers, Skiddle, Eventbrite or any site that is linked on our website for the event). If in doubt, please contact us before making any purchases.

To avoid disappointment - never buy from an unofficial ticket agent / seller!
