Things I live with, an exhibition of quilts and drawings by Katie Whitford 28/02/2026 - 30/04/2026
Things I Live With is an exhibition of quilts and drawings from artist Katie Whitford. Katie has begun working with quilting as an extension of her drawing practice, creating slow, tactile portraits of everyday objects as wall hangings. Much like in her prints, she uses fabric to build layered compositions assembling naïve, abstracted forms that are brought to life with stitching and texture. These quilted works continue her exploration of domestic space and objects, offering a playful reflection of the everyday.
About Katie:
Katie Whitford (b. 1995) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects on the inherent strangeness of everyday life. At the heart of her practice is drawing, which she uses to weave together visual references from books, museums, films, places, and memory into layered compositions situated within domestic environments.
Recently, she has extended this approach into quilting, creating tactile wall hangings that depict everyday objects through naïve, abstracted forms, stitching, and texture. Across media, her work explores intimacy, memory, and the poetic oddities embedded in ordinary moments.
Katie studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths, completed an 18-month scholarship at the Royal Drawing School, London, and earned her MA at the University of the West of England in 2023. She has exhibited at Bankside Gallery, Christie’s, and The Mall, undertaken international residencies, and has work in private collections worldwide, including the Royal Collection.
Please be aware that the cafe is not always open on Sundays.
