Jon Bentley and Rachel Toon
Rachel Toon
Themes for this collection of my work are light, colour, rhythm and time. An
engagement with the natural world and a strong desire to celebrate and protect it is
one of the driving
forces behind my work. I use a variety of techniques and mediums including
homemade ink, oil paint, watercolour, cyanotype and printmaking.
Jon Bentley
In the conception of an artwork, I try to give free reign to my subconscious in the
same way that the surrealists of the early twentieth century employed psychic
automatism, free from the constraints of reason to create their dream like visions.
As in dreams, the work tends to ask more questions than provide answers or specific
meanings and hopefully will inspire in the viewer the possibility of seeing the world
beyond its surface appearance.
Jon and Rachel are partners and have worked together for over 40 years,
sometimes collaborating on projects and commissions, more often pursuing their
individual creative practices.
Tickets are available online, over the phone or in person.
