Cathy is a Bristol‑based photographer with a background in mental health and wellbeing. Trained as an occupational therapist and formerly a teacher of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, her approach to adult education centres on learning for all. She creates inclusive, welcoming spaces where adults feel safe to experiment, ask questions, and progress at their own pace. Cathy motivates learners through encouragement, clarity, and an emphasis on personal growth rather than perfection.
Her interests in colour, styling, and storytelling bring a sense of mood, play, and emotional resonance into each session, drawing on the visual language of fashion, cinema, and expressive self‑presentation.
Cathy started practising photography in 2023 after losing her dad, using the camera as a way to move through grief with gentleness and curiosity. Colour became a form of grounding, light became a way of noticing again, and image‑making became a quiet practice of rebuilding. What began as a personal refuge has since grown into a creative pathway that shapes both her work and the workshops she facilitates.
Cathy’s practice now centres on helping others discover their own visual language that is shaped by emotion, identity, and the art of noticing.
