Dan trained as a Sculptor at Wimbledon school of art in London learning many techniques, using many mediums, sculpting stone, plaster, clay, wax and metal. After a while he realised that wood was his favourite material to sculpt and after 20 odd years it still is. He is currently a practicing artist/woodcarver based in Bristol. He makes art for exhibitions and commissions. He has made letter cut signs for East Bristol Bakery, the Bristol Old Vic and plenty of other private commissions. He has more recently held workshops with the Avon cubs helping them to transfer their designs for a totem pole on to wood. Then Dan completed the 10ft Totem pole which now stands in their centenary wood.
He has taught woodcarving all over Bristol to different community groups and over 6 years ago set up woodcarving workshops in Easton for adults. His style of teaching is relaxed but informative. He teaches the woodcarving techniques you will need to make a carving and the sculptural know how to visualize your carving. He encourages students to return to his courses with their own projects and to improve under his guidance.
Daniel is not teaching any courses right now.
