Enjoy a day learning a variety of ways to create intriguing textured clay surfaces on pottery. We will explore several resources, from our many textured materials, stamps and roulettes, to the tree trunks, pavements, foliage and manhole covers around Folk House. You may choose to carve out patterns or risk using your fist or the sole of your trainers! You will then learn two or three techniques to turn your textured clay into one or more pots or sculptures.
This workshop is suitable for those new to ceramics as well as for more experienced makers wishing to develop a project during a creative day at Folk House. Your finished work will be glazed, fired and ready to collect at a later date.
Don't hesitate to bring in a relatively robust, small object you think might make an interesting texture in clay such as a Savoy cabbage leaf, some twigs, a rock or any relatively small object you don't mind getting a bit mucky. How many textured items you make will depend on their size and complexity.
Please bring your own apron and you are welcome to bring your own tools.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
