This course is designed for anyone who has some experience throwing and turning pots on the wheel. You should already be able to centre your own clay to join this course. If you want to refresh, consolidate or develop your technique, then this course is for you. The tuition will be tailored to your current skills and where you want to develop right now, whether that's simply practising and mastering the basic shapes like bowls and cylinders, expanding into more complex forms like double-walled vessels and bottle necks, or scaling up to larger amounts of clay. Perhaps it's how to get better refinement within the turning, adding handles, and the glazing process that you're most interested in - all of that will be covered too.
You will spend the first few weeks throwing, followed by a week of turning and refining your pots. You will choose your best pots to put through for firing. The following week, you will glaze them yourself in a mix of any of our beautiful glazes.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
