Would you like to delve into the world of contemporary poetry and learn more about how and why poets are writing today? Are you interested in experimenting with new poetic techniques and ideas? This creative writing course will focus on a range of recent collections to give you a flavour of how it might be possible to approach poetry. We will read work by writers including Sarah Howe, Gillian Allnutt, and Richard Scott. Interactive prompts, group discussion, and the opportunity to share your own writing in a supportive group context will shape our sessions. This course is suitable for all levels, whether you are new to poetry or have been writing for some time - all you need is curiosity, openness, and enthusiasm.
Since the programme was printed, this course has changed to a 4 week course starting on 29th April and finishing on 22nd - 20th May. The price is now £91.00.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
