Courses description

Designed specifically as a progression from the basics, this 3-hour workshop takes the foundational stitches you already know and develops them through creative variations and unique combinations. We will explore how altering your thread weights and strand counts completely transforms the texture and level of detail in a piece, while discovering how to layer your work for maximum depth and density.

By the end of the workshop, you will have experienced the exciting potential of manipulating thread and will have transformed a standard hoop into a striking piece of modern botanical art, dense with layered, tactile textures that mimic the natural depth of mosses, foliage, and structural flora.

Level: Intermediate (or confident beginners looking to level up)

What you will learn and achieve:

Explore advanced variations of standard stitches.

Experiment with thread ply. Discover how manipulating the weight of your thread shifts the detail level, and practice selecting colour gradients that add depth to your botanical motifs.

Pull your textured fills together to complete your modern botanical hoop art.
