If you are new to making pottery, this course will provide you with a well-rounded and comprehensive introduction to the craft of pottery. Through directed projects, you will learn the foundational skills of coiling, pinching, moulding, and slab construction while exploring different types of clay bodies, slip decoration techniques and the glazing process.
During the course you will also have a 4-week introduction to the ancient and mindful craft of throwing on the potters wheel, supported with expert guidance on how to make basic shapes such as cylinders and bowls, and add foot rings and surface texture.
By the end of the course, you will have a diverse range of unique pots to take home as well as a useful understanding of clay mechanics to enable you to continue on your pottery journey.
This 10 week course will run from 13th April - 29th June with no class on 4th May bank holiday and no class in half term.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
