Explore Bristol’s hidden details and iconic sights on a guided photography walk, learning how to capture the city more creatively.
This experience is part of City Uncovered: Bristol, taking place from 18th–31st May – a limited-time series of unique, under-the-radar experiences designed to help you see the city differently.
What to expect:
You’ll begin at Bristol Folk House, a tucked-away creative hub on Park Street that many locals pass without ever stepping inside. Here, your tutor will introduce the basics of digital photography through short demos and practical exercises, helping you get comfortable with your camera settings and creative approach.
From there, you’ll head out on a guided photo walk through the surrounding area, discovering a mix of well-known landmarks and hidden details. Along the route, you’ll capture scenes around Bristol Cathedral and College Green, spot Banksy street art, and pass by The Hatchet—Bristol’s oldest operating pub.
Throughout the walk, your tutor will offer hands-on guidance, helping you refine your composition, experiment with perspective, and develop your own creative style.
Back at the Folk House, you’ll take part in a relaxed photo review session, with helpful tips on editing and simple ways to improve your images. You’ll also have time to explore the venue itself and enjoy a coffee or cake in the café.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
