Create a multimedia painting of the National Trust's Tyntesfield. Working with detailed photographic reference we will explore how to bring this historic building to life using a saturated vibrant watercolour underpainting then given dramatic solidity and structure using charcoal and carbon pencil.
An exciting method of working that separates the application of colour from the application of tone. An interesting process which brings a loose expressive fluidity to how we can portray the built environment. This Victorian Gothic revival building with its expressive detailing provides an ideal starting point to explore this creative approach.
The inclusion of people within your artwork will also be discussed.
Andy's architectural studies made on site at Tyntesfield and around the South West will be used as reference. The work of various architectural artists will provide a starting point for further research.
All reference photos and art materials provided.
This workshop will be taught at the Folk House and not onsite at Tyntesfield.

Latecomer
If a course has already started, please call the office as it may be possible to join after the start date. This may only be possible if the course is not already full, if it is not disruptive for the other students and you are aware that you have missed a percentage of the course and the tutor will not have time to catch you up. This will be at discretion of the Folk House. We run our courses termly, so it might be best to start at the beginning of the course.
